***Fire Notice***
Tuesday, July 31st
We would like to extend our sincere sympathies for all of our customers who have suffered losses during the Carr Fire. Many families and businesses have been evacuated, have lost homes, or know someone who has suffered through this catastrophe. We are so sorry for your losses.
This notice is to inform you about the status of our services as of Tuesday morning July 31st. The list below is organized by “Type of Service” and has information about the status of each type of service at this time. The largest group of affected customers are our ShastaBeam Wireless Internet Customers.
Internet Connectivity Services
ShastaBeam:
As of this morning all eight towers we have in the fire area are active and operational. We know there are customers who have lost their homes in West Reading. For those customers whose services have been interrupted or destroyed by the fire, we will be suspending, canceling, or crediting your accounts accordingly. As a utility company with services in the fire area, we have been given access to all of the affected areas to assess, restore and repaire damaged facilities. We are driving to all customers homes and will assess damages to the equipment you use and gather an inventory of those homes that need equipment and repair services. We expect customers to call in and request service calls cancelations and we ask for your patience as we schedule those needs.
We are on the Carr Fire co-operators list, which gives us access to all the emergency fire control meetings being held at the Shasta District Fairgrounds command center. We have attended every morning meeting for the Utility Group and the general Co-operators meeting for all companies providing services in the areas of the fire. We have access to all fire affected areas for the purpose of assessing and restoring services. Please rest assured that we are doing everything in our power to return your Internet and telephone services to normal operations. All customers in the fire areas evacuated will see their service credited with one month of service as their outages are confirmed.
Cable and DSL and Dial-up Services
All connection services affected by this outage will be treated similar as those mentioned above.
Hosted Services – Email – Website services
Other than one twenty-minute interruption on Friday, all of our servers have been 100% operational and there is no expectation that they will go down. Requests for billing adjustments will be handled on a case-by-case basis. We invite customers to visit our Facebook pages and websites for updates on the Fire.
There is an incredible video on the ShastaBeam Facebook page of the fire approaching our West Tower. Click here to view it: https://www.facebook.com/ShastaBeam/videos/2102541106701276/
The fire burned over our West tower but somehow all of our radios continued operating and are still operating 100% to day. Once again we give our prayers and hopes for a safe return to your homes and our sincere regrets for those who have lost their homes.
Sincerely,
Staff at Shasta.com and ShastaBeam
